On my nightstand

The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin

This is the next book on my list and I cannot WAIT to get started, Insha’Allah!

Mother Nurture: Life Lessons from the Mothers of America’s Best and Brightest by Stephanie Hirsch

Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri

Lahiri is a writer of the first/second generation, Indian-subcontinent immigrant experience.  Although I am usually a big Lahiri fan, this book was a disappointment. Interpreter of Maladies, her first collection of short stories, was much better.  I felt like the stories were a little redundant and nothing was really original.

I read the happiness project not too long ago. I liked it a lot and you might like it too. in fact, when i first came across your blog the first thing i thought was..’this is her happiness project..she figured it out!” lol yeah the book does that to you as cheesy as that sounds. but let me know how you like it.:)

I finished reading Unaccustomed Earth a few months ago. It wasn’t bad but like you said her earlier stories was a lot better. Have you ever read Sister of My Heart or Arranged Marriage by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni? She’s similar to the Jhumpa Lahiri style of writing.
